Left Hand from Longmont, Calif., will be the featured brewery for Flanny’s monthly tap takeover at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
One of the highlights of the evening will be Smokejumper smoked imperial porter, a gold medalist at the 2008 Great American Beer Festival that the brewery brought back just last year.
The latest version in Left Hand’s winter series – Fade to Black 5, a black rye ale – will be flowing, as will Volumes 1 (foreign export stout, a double gold medalist at GABF), 2 (smoked Baltic porter), 3 (chile pepper porter), and 4 (Rocky Mountain black ale).
Colorado ties will be evident with St. Vrain Tripel, a Belgian-style beer named for the Rockies’ St. Vrain River, and cult fave Warrior IPA, fresh-hopped with Colorado-grown hops.
There also will be two ales from the draft-only Ambidextrous series: Step 2 (smoked doppelbock) and Step 5 (a sticke alt).
Other Left Hand ales rarely, if ever, seen in Arizona include Deep Cover Brown, Jackman’s Pale, Mother Lode, Munich Dark Lager, Dunkelweiss, and Pro Am Scharzbier.
Year-round beers will be led by Wake Up Dead imperial stout, which scores 97 out of 100 on RateBeer.com, as well as the nitro version.
