Downtown Tempe’s newest destination – El Hefe Super Macho Taqueria – has opened on the southwest corner of Mill and Sixth. It takes over the former Canteen Modern Tequila Bar, which closed in October.
El Hefe offers a menu of tacos, tortas, and 20 kinds of margaritas, including a “beer-garita.”
It’s El Hefe’s second Valley location and third overall. The original debuted in Scottsdale in 2011; another opened in Chicago in May.
Although El Hefe Tempe had a soft opening Sunday, its 21-and-over grand opening starts at 5 p.m. today. After that, it’ll be open for lunch and dinner daily.
