If you’ve been eager to try the new Anniversary Baltic Porter from Wanderlust Brewing but haven’t had time to trek up to Flagstaff, you’re in luck. The northern Arizona brewery will be selling bottles at 6 p.m. tonight at Papago Brewing in Scottsdale.
The limited-release beer, which debuted last month, has been aged in whiskey barrels (pictured) for five months and clocks in at 10% ABV and 42 IBUs. It is the first in Wanderlust’s Shake Down Series of 375-milliliter cork-and-cage bottles.
Since Wanderlust doesn’t have an automated bottling line, the brewery is taking its first tentative steps into bottling with small batches of experimental beers. (The moniker “Shake Down” refers to a testing period.)
All the beers in the series will use a common bottle – with “Shake Down Series” printed on them – but each will get a small hand tag denoting the style.
Besides bottles of Baltic porter, Papago also will have Wanderlust’s year-round 928 Local farmhouse ale on tap tonight.
