Today’s AZ Beer Week highlights: Wing Eating Contest, He’brew Happy Hour & Wild Watermelon

Lots of beer dinners are on tonight’s menu, including the Four Peaks & SanTan Rare Beer Dinner at Vintage 95, the Bell’s Beer Dinner (featuring Laura Bell) at Spokes on Southern, and the Sam Adams Beer Dinner at House of Brews. If you weren’t able to score tickets to one of these great dinners, there still are plenty of other events tonight.

Deviant Dale’s Wing Eating Contest

Yucca Tap Room promises to have a whole mess of Oskar Blues hot sauce on hand to make some tasty wings from 7-9 p.m., and they’ll have a Deviant Dale’s wing-eating contest for those who can brave the heat. On draft: Breckenridge Whiskey Barrel Aged G’Knight, Southern Hemi Hops ESB, Icey Wheat Pale Ale, Dale’s Pale Ale, Deviant Dale’s IPA, and Mama’s Little Yella Pils.

He’brew Happy Hour

Boulders on Broadway hosts a He’brew Happy Hour from 3-7 p.m. with a dozen Shmaltz beers, including Rejewvenator Dubbel Doppel, Genesis Dry Hopped Session Ale, Bittersweet Lenny’s RIPA, Messiah Nut Brown Ale, and David’s Slingshot Hoppy Summer Lager.

Keep Calm, Watermelon’s On

Mudshark Brewery will be tapping and tasting kegs of its new Wild Watermelon and Gone Bananas brews from 6-8 p.m. at Mellow Mushroom in Ahwatukee. It also will be talking about its solar-powered brewery.

Green Flash Spotlight

World of Beer Gilbert hosts a Green Flash spotlight with brewer Chuck Silva from 2-11:45 p.m. On tap: Palate Wrecker, Serrano Chili Double Stout, Candela Rye Barleywine 2012, Belgian Brown, East Village Pilsner, 30th Street Pale Ale, Black IPA, and more.

Goose Island Spotlight

At World of Beer Tempe, the spotlight is on Goose Island from 2-11:45 p.m. On tap: Bourbon County Stout, Bourbon County Barley Wine, Lolita, and more.
