Sbarro has announced the closure of 155 of its food-court pizzerias, including the one at Fiesta Mall in Mesa. Other East Valley locations remain open.
The closures all are corporate-owned locations. Last year, according to Nation’s Restaurant News, the chain had 417 company-owned locations and 174 franchises in the U.S.
Last fall, Sbarro debuted a more upscale fast-casual concept called Pizza Cucinova. It also is working on a made-to-order concept called Sbarro Brooklyn Fresh.
