BBQ & beer, anyone? Flanny’s to host 1st Hogs & Hops on Saturday

Flanny’s in Tempe will hosts its first-ever Hogs & Hops festival – featuring barbecue and craft beer – from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Smoked pork from two hogs locally sourced from McReynolds Farms in Phoenix will be available in two options: A pulled pork sandwich with sides of baked beans and cole slaw ($9.99) or a platter of pork served with baked beans and cole slaw ($12.99).

Each dish will be served with two sides of BBQ sauce, one made with Sonoran White Chocolate Ale and the other made with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

Sonoran and Sierra Nevada will provide the fest’s beers, including White Chocolate, Desert Amber, Victorian IPA, and Smooth Rebel Double IPA from Sonoran, and Pale Ale, Torpedo, Kellerweis, Ruthless Rye, Stout, Knightro Irish Stout (nitro), and Audition Off Kilter Scotch Ale from Sierra Nevada.

Part of Flanny’s parking lot will be fenced off, where attendees can play cornhole toss and horseshoes.

They also will be pouring from three firkins outside: A cask of Ruthless Rye, a cask of Smooth Rebel hopped with Cascade and Summit hops, and a cask of Desert Amber dry-hopped with Chinook hops.

There will be no cover for the event. Flanny’s is located on the southeast corner of McClintock and Elliot.
