Grimaldi’s Coal Brick-Oven Pizzeria is closing its location on Alma School and Queen Creek in south Chandler. The restaurant’s final day of business will be Sunday, April 6.
The closure will leave the New York-born chain with seven locations in Arizona, including ones in west Chandler and Gilbert.
The original Grimaldi’s, located beneath the Brooklyn Bridge, is one of the country’s most famous pizzerias, known for using a coal-fired brick oven.
A staffer at the south Chandler location says the restaurant space already has a new renter, but didn’t know who.
Grimaldi’s is the third south Chandler restaurant to close in the past six weeks.
Blu Burger at Alma School and Chandler Heights was shuttered at the end of January, and Bourbon Street Bar & BBQ at Gilbert and Chandler Heights closed in mid-February.
