Avery Brewing from Boulder, Colo., will be the featured brewery for this month’s Third Thursday Tap Takeover at Flanny’s in Tempe.

You don’t often see Avery beers on tap in the Valley, so this is a somewhat rare opportunity to try many of its beers. The event will run 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The tap list is led by four of Avery’s five year-round beers: India Pale Ale, White Rascal (witbier), Ellie’s Brown Ale, and Joe’s Pilsner. Curiously missing is Out of Bounds Stout.

All three members of the brewery’s Holy Trinity of Ales – Hog Heaven (imperial red), The Reverend (Belgian quad), and Salvation (Belgian golden) – will be available.

There’ll only be one beer from its Dictator Series, but it’ll be The Maharaja, an imperial IPA that scores a perfect 100 on RateBeer.com. Similarly, the only beer from its Demons of Ale line will be Mephistopheles, but the stout also scores a 100.

Sadly, Thursday’s tap list doesn’t include Rumpkin and Uncle Jacob’s Stout from Avery’s acclaimed barrel program, but there will be Tweak, a bourbon-barrel aged, coffee-infused Belgian imperial stout that debuted last November.

Fans of German-style beers can choose between Boulder Weisse (Avery’s version of a Berliner Weisse), Liebenweizen (a dunkelweizen), and Trogdor the Burninator (a doppelbock).

Rounding out the tap list will be winter seasonal New World Porter, 4Point2 (a sessionable IPA), Collaboration Not Litigation (a Belgian Strong brewed with Russian River), and Lillikoi Kepolo (a Belgian wheat infused with Hawaiian passionfruit).
