Cork wine dinner Wednesday to spotlight Arizona’s Sand-Reckoner

Sand-Reckoner Vineyards, an up-and-coming winery in southern Arizona, will be featured in a six-course wine dinner at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cork in Chandler.

Sand-Reckoner, located south of Wilcox, was the only Arizona winery to crack the San Francisco Chronicle’s list of top 100 wines of 2013 with its Malvasia Bianca. It also was named best white wine in the 2013 Arizona Republic Wine Competition.

Vineyard owners Rob and Sarah Hammelman will be special guests.

March 26 Sand-Reckoner wine dinner menu:

• 1st course: Mache salad with shaved foie gras, citrus, raspberries, cashews, and pink peppercorn vinaigrette  (paired with Sand Reckoner Rose 2012)
• 2nd course: Espresso and cocoa nib scented opah with Israeli couscous, sugar snap peas, and crystallized ginger (Sand Reckoner “2” 2011) 
• 3rd course: Confit breast of squab with Yukon Gold potato cake, purple cauliflower, and date conserve (Sand Reckoner “7” 2011)
• 4th course: Smoked salt crusted buffalo strip loin with currant and goat cheese risotto and zinfandel gastrique (Sand Reckoner “Z” 2012)
• 5th course: TBD (Sand Reckoner “11” 2011)
• 6th course: Mignardises
