Another week, another fast-casual burger concept comes to the Valley. This week it’s Florida-based BurgerFi, which made its Arizona debut on the northeast corner of Val Vista and Baseline in Gilbert.
It takes over a restaurant space that’s seen frequent turnover in recent years, but perhaps most prominently was home to a Streets of New York.
BurgerFi offers a streamlined menu of all-natural burgers and hot dogs, “concrete” desserts, and craft beer and wine.
Burgers feature free-range, grass-fed Angus beef with no hormones or antibiotics. Buns are fresh-baked and branded with the chain’s logo.
Specialty burgers include a Breakfast All Day Burger topped with fried egg, hash browns, and maple syrup, and a Brisket Burger made with 28-day-aged ground brisket.
Hot dogs also are all-natural, and there’s even a Kobe beef dog. French fries are hand-cut.
“Concretes,” frozen custard layered with various toppings, come in several varieties but beware: The O.M.C. (Oh My Chocolate!) version packs 1440 calories in a single serving.
Wine – Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, and Merlot – are $4.97 a glass or $19.97 a bottle. The list of craft beers available on draft and in bottles changes constantly.
The environmentally conscious decor includes oversized ceiling fans (which use less electricity), chairs made from recycled Coca-Cola bottles, and tables made of recycled wood.
