Arizona has a new beer festival, and it looks like a good one. The Arizona Craft Brewers Guild announced today it will hold the inaugural Real, Wild and Woody on Saturday, July 19, at Tempe Center for the Arts.
The indoor event, which will run 2-6 p.m., will showcase specialty cask (real), sour (wild), and barrel-aged (woody) beers. Attendance will be capped somewhere around 1,000 people.
Real, Wild and Woody is designed as a more intimate fest than the guild’s popular Arizona Strong Beer Festival (pictured above) that kicks off Arizona Beer Week every February.
“The rapid rise of craft beer has brought with it a welcomed influx of beer festivals,†says Rob Fullmer, executive director of the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild. “However, Real, Wild and Woody offers something a little different.
“This is an event that only our state brewers could bring to Arizona. It’s a big thank you to those that supported our larger Strong Beer Festival.
“This is a smaller event. Attendees are all VIPs because you help us accomplish our goal of celebrating Arizona beer and beer culture. “
Tickets will be $50 in advance and $65 on the day of the event (if still available, which is doubtful).
Tickets, which will be good for 20 tastings and a 10-ounce hand-blown commemorative snifter, will go on sale in early May.
