This weekend: A Taste of Greece festival in Chandler

A Taste of Greece, a twice-a-year festival of Greek food and drink, music, dancing, and retail goods, will take place this weekend at St. Katherine Church in Chandler.

Hours will be 5-10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday.

An indoor dining hall will offer sit-down meals including lamb shank, pastichio (baked macaroni with a seasoned tomato-cinnamon meat sauce), moussaka (eggplant and potatoes with seasoned meat sauce), and spanakopita (spinach, onions, and cheeses inside flaky filo).

Outdoor booths will be selling chicken and lamb gyros, Greek sausages, barbecued lamb (pictured above), and saganaki (flaming cheese). There also will be a wide variety of baklava and other pastries.

Admission is $3, but you can get two free tickets by liking the fest’s Facebook page here.

St. Katherine’s is located on Dobson, just south of Elliot.
