The wait is over: Classic Italian Pizza finally reopens today in its new digs on the southwest corner of McClintock and Guadalupe in Tempe.
The acclaimed pizzeria lost its lease at its original location at Lakeshore and Baseline early last year. It took owner/chef Azhar Began more than a year to secure a new space – just a mile-and-a-half away.
The new Classic Italian Pizza is located next to Mac’s Broiler & Tap in the busy shopping center that also includes Changing Hands bookstore and Trader Joe’s.
For now, Classic Italian only is open for dinner from 5-10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
In the coming weeks, Began plans to open for lunch, something Classic Italian hasn’t offered for eight years.
