Oma’s Place, a sandwich shop and bakery that also offers daily German food specials, has opened on the northeast corner of Alma School and Southern, kitty-korner from Fiesta Mall, in Mesa.
It is the first restaurant venture by East Valley resident Astrid Braun.
Specialty sandwiches range from egg salad ($4) to club ($6.59), or you can build your own for $5.49. A house-made soup of the day is $3 for a bowl or $4 for a bread bowl.
Sides (99 cents) include potato salad, coleslaw, and cucumber salad, all made fresh daily.
Oma is the German word for grandmother, and Oma’s Place offers a daily German dish – such as roladen, schnitzel, Swedish meatballs, cabbage rolls, or brats – for $7.99 (including soup and a drink).
Oma’s Place is open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.
