Seattle-based MOD Pizza – yet another quick-serve, build-your-own pizza concept – makes its Arizona debut at 4 p.m. today at SanTan Village in Gilbert.
The first 52 people in line will get their pizza or salad for free, and 100% of today’s sales will be donated to the United Food Bank of Arizona.
MOD, which stands for Made On Demand, bakes its individual-sized pizzas in an 800-degree display oven in about three minutes.
Besides pizzas, a compact menu offers three salads (standard, Caesar, or deluxe), garlic knots, and three dessert knots (chocolate, strawberry, and cinnamon).
Handspun milkshakes are MOD’s signature beverage. Beer and wine also are available.
MOD is the brainchild of Scott and Ally Svenson, who sold their Seattle Coffee Company to Starbucks in 1998. There currently are 16 other locations in Washington, Oregon, and California.
After today, the SanTan location will be open 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
