In a city the size of Fort Collins, Colo. (population 150,000), it’s hard to believe two such prominent breweries as New Belgium and Odell had never collaborated on a beer.
That 23-year streak came to an end last month with the release of FOCOllaboration, an American pale ale (6.7% ABV) made with Fawcett Crystal Malt (an Odell favorite) and Centennial, Cascade, and Citra hops (New Belgium staples).
FOCOllaboration will be one of 11 rare beers at a joint New Belgium-Odell tasting event at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Handlebar Tempe.
Other New Belgium beers will be La Folie, G Love Peach Porch Lounger, NBB/ Three Floyds Gratzer, Snapshot, and Rampant IIPA.
Other Odell beers will be Trellis, Dr. Acula, Jaunt, Perle White IPA, Myrcenary DIPA.
Brewery reps Alicia Flockhart and Billy Apel will be on hand with free giveaways.
