After a long and traumatic past 10 days, Wimpy’s Paradise will close today so its staff can catch its collective breath. The downtown Chandler burger and ice cream parlor will reopen at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
A series of misfortunes befell the family-run restaurant, culminating in owner Randy Walters’ unexpected heart surgery (see story). Legions of Wimpy’s fans showed their support by packing the restaurant the rest of the week and through the weekend.
Now, Walters has decided to give his overworked family a much-needed day off before starting to get back into the restaurant’s normal routine. Walters himself is expected to return to work this week.
