After two weeks of renovations, former fine-dining restaurant Cork reopens at 5 p.m. today with a new menu, new look, and new name, Earnest.
Cork opened in 2008 on the northeast corner of Alma School and Chandler Heights in south Chandler. Despite winning numerous awards for its decadent menu and prestigious wine list, it was bucking a national trend of declining interest in fine dining.
Thus, when Cork came to its annual two-week summer hiatus this year, executive chef Brian Peterson and pasty chef Danielle Morris decided to transform the restaurant into Earnest, promising “craft beers and comfortable, creative fare to match.”
Elements of the new decor include weathered barn wood and wood light fixtures. Ceramic plates have been replaced by steelite and cast iron.
The food is described “solid, seasonal American cooking with a reimagined spin on tried-and-true ‘meat and potatoes’ classics.” See menu pdf.
Earnest will be open 5-9 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and 5-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday. Happy hour is 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.
