Butcher Block Meats, a family-owned butcher shop, has opened on the southwest corner of Arizona Avenue and Ocotillo Road in south Chandler.
It takes over the former Tropical Smoothie Cafe space in a building shared with Yogis Grill and long-defunct NY54 Pizza.
Owner Tim Marzonie’s background includes working at Hobe Meats in Phoenix and as a meat manager for Albertson’s.
Butcher Block gets its beef from The Greater Omaha Packing Company, which has been in business since 1920. It carries USDA Prime and CAB Choice grade meats with a minimum of 30 days aging.
The chicken and pork is all-natural with no sodium nitrates or added solutions. It also offers fresh sausage and Dietz & Watson lunch meats and cheeses.
Butcher Block is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
Butcher Block joins three other prominent butcher shops in the East Valley: Von Hanson’s Meats & Spirits in Chandler, Midwestern Meats in Mesa, and The Pork Shop in Queen Creek.
