Some like it hot: First-ever Scottsdale Spice Culinary Event takes place Saturday

Chao Urban Asin Eatery, Angry Crab Shack, and El Palacio are among the East Valley restaurants participating in the inaugural Scottsdale Spice Culinary Event.

From 6-10 p.m. Saturday at The Venue Scottsdale, chefs will compete with their spiciest dishes to advance to the World Food Championship in Las Vegas.

Angry Crab Shack, for example, will serve a dish of sausage, shrimp, potatoes, and scorching “scorpion sauce.”

Burgers N’ Fries in Scottsdale will have its Arizona Burger stuffed with jalapeños and topped with fried Serrano peppers and a chipotle aioli.

General admission to the 21-and-over event is $50, which includes food samplings (while supplies last) and seven drink tickets.
