Bistro 13, a restaurant operated by culinary arts students at the East Valley Institute of Technology, has opened on the southwest corner of Alma School and Main in Mesa.
Located next to EVIT’s main campus, Bistro 13 features globally inspired cuisine such as a house-ground Bistro 13 Burger ($4.75),  a Thai Grilled Mahi Mahi Sandwich ($7.75), and Panko Chicken Tenders ($4.75).
You can dine in, or order online and pick up your food at the drive-through 15 minutes later.
“It’s a classroom that happens to have customers coming in,†says EVIT chef and instructor Joe Kalfus.
The restaurant is open 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. weekdays. Kalfus hopes to add breakfast service by next summer.
