Noca closes for good, but Nocawich coming to Tempe

Noca, one of the Valley’s most acclaimed fine-dining restaurants, finally is closed for good after a six-year, on-again off-again run in Phoenix, according to owner Eliot Wexler.

There’s a sliver of good news, though. Nocawich, the casual, less-expensive sandwich concept developed for Noca’s lunch crowd, is coming to Tempe.

“Nocawich is what the Valley wants,” Wexler tells Arizona Republic dining critic Howard Seftel, who had given Noca multiple five-star reviews.

There already are two Nocawich locations at Phoenix Sky Harbor. The third will open in the former Smashburger space on the northeast corner of College and University, next to ASU, before the end of the year.

The Tempe Nocawich will be open for breakfast, lunch. and dinner daily, and serve alcohol.
