You can grab a piece of Valley dining history when Monti’s La Casa Vieja auctions off its vintage decor and historical memorabilia Thursday, Dec. 4.
Owner Michael Monti announced last week the 60-year-old steakhouse, housed in the oldest continuously occupied structure in the Valley, will close Monday.
Earlier: Monti’s La Casa Vieja to close Nov. 17
“We never imagined we would have so many people reaching out and wanting the same special keepsake from the restaurant,” Monti says.
“So we decided it is only fitting we open this up to a community auction and allow all of our friends and customers who have supported us over the years to take part in the auction and take a piece of Monti’s home with them.â€
The auction will feature dozens of historic framed pictures, maps, vintage menus, displays, fixtures, and sports memorabilia.
The auction will begin at 7 p.m. at the restaurant. Bidders can preview the items from 5-7 p.m. Bidders also will be able to preview items and bid online here.
There will be a second auction Dec. 8 to sell the kitchen equipment.
Developers plan to build a 15-story office building, a 16-story Kimpton hotel, and 17,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space on the 2.5-acre site.
