The Arizona Distilling Company debuts two new distilled spirits today: Park Rye Whiskey and Humphrey’s Whiskey, both pioneers in Arizona’s distilled spirit history.
Park Rye is the first rye whiskey distilled in Arizona. It’s named after Arizona’s first brewery, founded in 1864. Made with 95% rye and 5% desert durum wheat from southern Arizona, Park Rye offers a distinctly different taste than typical rye whiskeys, 90% of which are distilled in the Midwest.
Humphrey’s Whiskey, named for the tallest peak in the state, is the first collaboration between a distillery and a brewery (Four Peaks Brewing) in Arizona. Its mix of 80% malted barley and 20% flaked rye gives it an extraordinarily smooth taste.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to offer the first Arizona-made whiskeys of their kind to our residents,” AZDC distiller Jason Grossmiller says. “We look forward to embracing the proud culture of the state and showcasing many great aspects about Arizona and its history through our products.”
A limited supply of Park Rye and Humphrey’s Whiskey are available for purchase at the Tempe distillery. AZDC also makes Copper City Bourbon, Desert Dry Gin, and Desert Durum Wheat Whiskey.
