JC’s Steakhouse finally has passed the last of its inspections and will open Saturday in the former Cafe Posada building on the southeast corner of Gilbert and Ray in Gilbert.
It’ll be the second Gilbert restaurant for Dennis Petty and Diana Blewer, who’ve been running The Groves Bar & Grill, located a mile-and-a-half up Gilbert Road, for the past five years.
JC’s gets its name from the first initials of the couple’s fathers, John Fillman and Charles Blewer. Their story is told on the menu.
The 5,000-square-foot building features a large, open dining  area with arched windows.
A large opening allows diners in the dining room to watch the action in the kitchen.
Blewer describes the decor as “casually elegant.” It features lots of reclaimed wood and corrugated steel.
A separate bar area offers wines by the bottle and glass, and 12 beers on tap, including nine local.
A third seating area is being called a lounge, but also doubles as a private dining room.
Old West-style saloon doors made with weathered wood and steel pipe separate the bar area from the lounge. There’s also a north-side patio.
JC’s will be open Tuesdays through Sundays. The bar and lounge areas will open at 3 p.m., the dining room at 4. Happy hour will run 3-6:30 p.m. weekdays.
An official grand opening celebration is planned for Friday, Dec. 12.
