Got a tip H&H City Pizza in Chandler was hauling out its equipment New Year’s Eve. Sure enough, by the time I got to the southwest corner of Arizona and Ocotillo, the strip-mall space was empty.
No sign on the door. No message on their website or Facebook page. I tried calling their recently opened location in Casa Grande but that number’s been disconnected.
H&H was near the top of my list of best East Valley pizzerias. It also was one of the few using a wood-fired oven.
And owners Marshall Reichert and Tyler Anderson certainly didn’t lack for creativity. Some of their more unusual pies featured toppings like strawberries, pecans, and even chow mein.
From Barrelhouse to Chino Bandito to H&H, the final days of 2014 certainly put a dent in the MXSW Top 100.
