My Wine Cellar in Ahwatukee and its spinoff, MWC Bistro in Gilbert, offer much more than great wine and food.
Book clubs
Both locations host monthly book clubs. Each chooses their own books, so voracious readers can double up if they choose.
The Ahwatukee club meets the second Tuesday of the month (next meeting: Feb. 10) at 7 p.m. The Gilbert club meets on the third Tuesday (next: Feb. 19), also at 7 p.m.
Both book clubs are free. A copy of the next month’s book and a bottle of wine are auctioned off at the end of each meeting.
Wine classes
Whether you want to become more familiar with wine regions, or simply learn how to choose a bottle at a restaurant or store, My Wine Cellar has four-week classes throughout the year.
The next Wine 101 class begins Feb. 16 at Ahwatukee. It starts at 6 p.m. for four straight Mondays and costs $80.
The next Wine 201 class begins Jan. 27 in Gilbert. It starts at 6 p.m. for four straight Tuesdays and costs $90.
Paint parties
Channel your inner artist when both locations host Reagan Guzman’s “Paint Party & Wine” (pictured) at 1 p.m. every Saturday.
The Ahwatukee also holds paint parties at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Cost is $30-$40 per person, which includes a two-hour painting class, all painting materials (including a canvas), step-by-step instruction, and a glass of wine or beer.
Register for the class on Guzman’s website.
