The City of Mesa is the latest entity to jump aboard the craft beer bandwagon. The state’s third-largest city is launching a new annual event – the Downtown Mesa Brew Fest – to kick off Cactus League play each year.
This year’s inaugural fest will take place 2-6 p.m. Saturday on South Macdonald between Main and First Avenue.
(You can find a helpful map of downtown Mesa parking lots here. All are free on weekends.)
Six local breweries are participating: Desert Eagle and Beer Research Institute from Mesa, SanTan from Chander, Uncle Bear’s from Ahwatukee, Sonoran in Phoenix, and College Street from Lake Havasu City.
Bad Water, which has a taproom in Scottsdale, also will be on hand.
Organizers plan to increase the number of breweries each year. No list of this year’s beers was available.
There will seven food vendors offering everything from pizza to hot dogs to barbecue. Three bands will provide live music.
Admission is free. Beers will be $5 for a 12-ounce pour.
