Umami, the ramen spot in downtown Tempe, has a couple of upcoming events:
At 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 16, Kelly Fletcher, formerly of The Revival and House of Tricks, will prepare a six-course menu in the tea room. The menu:
- Amuse Bouche:Â Pork and pine-nut polpettine with boursin and tomato jam
- Salad: Friseé with cranberry chutney, goat cheese, almond, chive and champagne vinaigrette
- Soup:Â White bean with kale pistou, Shaved prosciutto and elephant garlic chips
- Appetizer:Â Miso marinate pork belly with pineapple gastrique, pickled ginger and horseradish cream
- Entreé: Togarashi seared soku suna with rice noodle, paitan broth, crispy chicken skin and radish butter
- Dessert:Â Salted caramel panna cotta with hazelnut ganache and vanilla anglaise

From 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, Umami chefs Jared Lupin and Rebecca Noorda will travel to Posh in Scottsdale for the first half of a “Ramen Swap.”
Besides Posh’s usual Tuesday-only menu of four styles of ramen, oknomiyaki, and various Japanese beverages, Lupin and Noorda will offer a special ramen bowl for $12.
Posh chef Josh Hebert will complete the swap by going to Umami in early May (date TBA).
