Randy Walters always is experimenting with new menu items at Wimpy’s Paradise and Pittsburgh Willy’s, which currently are sharing the former’s space in downtown Chandler.
His latest creation: The Jalapeño Spam “hot dog,” which debuted Wednesday.
The sandwich features two slices of grilled Jalapeño Spam topped with two slices of Tillamook cheddar cheese and peppered grilled onions. It costs $3.50.

The Spam “dog” seems especially appropriate for Wimpy’s, an old-fashioned burger and ice cream parlor.
The restaurant is an homage to Walters’ father, who opened the original Wimpy’s in Monongahela, Pa., just south of Pittsburgh, in 1939.
The business died when he went to fight in World War II.
Spam was introduced in 1937 and gained widespread popularity during World War II.
Walters says Wednesday’s launch was so successful he’s planning to unveil two more Spam specialty “dogs” today.
