Road Zoda 2.0 nectarine horchata wheat ale debuts Thursday at Craft 64

Two years ago, James Swann and Andrew Bauman traveled to Lake Havasu City to create a beer with the folks at Mudshark.

The result was Road Zoda, a delicious tangerine-horchata wheat ale.

Swann is now one of the owners of the new Craft 64 in Scottsdale, and he recently went back to Mudshark to brew Road Zoda 2.0.

(Bauman now has his hands full as head brewer at The Perch, so Swann brought a couple of employees to brew with him this year).

This time around it’s a nectarine horchata wheat ale (4.2% ABV). It was brewed with fresh nectarines, fresh cinnamon, vanilla beans, and a touch of mango.

Mudshark, of course, has had sweet success with fruit-flavored wheat beers, including its popular Havablu (blueberry) and Wild Watermelon.

Road Zoda 2.0 will make its debut at 6 p.m. Thursday at Craft 64 in Old Town Scottsdale. Be sure to grab a pint or two before the limited release is gone.

The beer should pair well with Craft 64’s new Summer Peach Salad (pictured) made with spring mix, arugula, fresh peaches, and honey-roasted pecans, all tossed in a peach and honey vinaigrette.
