Opening today: Nocawich in Tempe

For six on-again, off-again years, Noca was a critical darling of Valley foodies. But its fine cuisine (and accompanying price point) never found much of an audience outside that small group.

One exception, however, was Nocawich, a casual, less-expensive sandwich concept designed to draw a lunch crowd.

When Noca finally closed its Phoenix doors for good last October, Nocawich lived on as two stand-alones at Sky Harbor and another at US Airways Center..

Today, a fourth Nocawich opens in the former Smashburger space on the northeast corner of College and University in Tempe.

Unlike the other locations, which only serve breakfast and lunch, the Tempe one also will offer dinner once it gets up to speed.

For now, it’s just breakfast (bagel sandwiches, burritos, pastries, etc.) and lunch (sandwiches) from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Besides a variety of coffee drinks, Nocawich also serves beer and wine.
