Here are 3 restaurants opening soon in Gilbert (but not downtown)

Last week’s post about some of the new restaurants coming to downtown Gilbert drew a lot of comments.

But not all of the town’s new-restaurant action is happening on that small stretch of Gilbert Road.

Here are three places under construction to keep an eye on in other parts of town:

1455 American Grill

When Bricks Family Sports Grill couldn’t renew its lease at Power and Baseline in Mesa in May, the owners turned their attention to neighboring Gilbert.

The result is this family-friendly neighborhood restaurant (pictured), named for its address. It’s scheduled to open in a couple weeks on the southeast corner of McQueen and Elliot.

The space has housed a bunch of restaurants in recent years, including Simply Burgers, Don Porterhouse (Korean BBQ), and, most recently, El Rico’s Mexican Restaurant.

Seven50ML Wine Bar & Bistro

After a couple of temporary closures, Vine Expressions shut down for good in 2013. The Gilbert Town Center near Gilbert and Warner has been without a wine bar since.

That will change with the opening of this newcomer, which describes itself as “a chic wine bar & bistro offering Mediterranean cuisine in a stylish, breezy setting.”

Look for it to open behind Chipotle and Pei Wei this fall.

Skip & Jan’s Sports Bar

This sports bar, a popular hangout for Valley pool players, closed at Priest and Elliott in Tempe two months ago.

It plans to reopen in the old First Round Draft space, plus the space next door for even more pool tables, on the northeast corner of McQueen and Warner.

The space has been stripped down to the bare concrete for a total rebuild so an end-of-the-year opening is an optimistic outlook.
