Joe’s Farm Grill in Gilbert kicks off its annual ‘‘Dog Days of Sumer’’ promotion Tuesday. Twelve specialty hot dogs and sausages will be available through Sept. 30.
I’m not sure why summer is being spelled with only one “m.” Are we supposed to think it was written by dogs? If so, any dog owner can tell you dogs are much smarter than that.
Anyway, this year’s lineup features 10 newcomers:
- ‘‘Sacré Bleu’’ Parisian Dog: With sliced ham, fontina and brie, and Dijon mayo on a garlic bun.
- Poutine Dog, Eh!? With Wisconsin cheese curds, fries, and brown gravy.
- Pepper Popper Dog: With Serrano cream cheese, fried jalapeños, and red pepper jelly.
- Tribute to Joe’s Real BBQ Dog: Topped with Joe’s BBQ Pit Beans and Mac ’n Cheese.
- Sweet Granny’s Pistachio Dog: Dried fig & pistachio sausage topped with Granny Smith apples and figs and garnished with pistachios.
- My Big Fat Greek Sausage: Smoked Greek-style sausage with tzatziki sauce, chopped tomato, feta and Kalamata olives.
- Foot-Long Chili Cheese Dog: Half-pound all beef hot dog smothered in homemade chili and shredded cheese.
- Taco Truck Dog:Â Ground beef taco and hot dog in a bun, with shredded cheese, black olives, lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream.
- For the Love of Bacon! Long John donut, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chopped bacon, peanut butter and fudge sauces, and two cherries.
- Eggs Over My Breakfast Bacon Dog: Deep-fried bacon-wrapped dog with breakfast potatoes, shredded cheddar, and over-easy egg (breakfast only).
And two favorites from the regular menu:
- Carolina Dog:Â Topped with pulled pork, cole slaw, and BBQ Sauce
- Sonoran Dog: Bacon-wrapped and deep-fried, smothered in beans, cheese, sour cream and jalapeños.
Specialty dogs come with a side of fries and are $7.99 for one (except the foot-long, which is $10.99) or $10.99 for any two (you’re free to mix and match). Two-dog orders include one side.
