Weekly five-course “Taste of Romeo’s Euro Cafe” dinners, hosted by chef Romeo Taus and his wife, Janice, in a private dining room, highlight a rotating selection from the regular menu of the downtown Gilbert restaurant.
Sept. 17 “Taste of Romeo’s†menu:
- Greka: Baked feta cheese with sautéed whole garlic, assorted olives, roasted red peppers, scallions, rosemary, and lemon peel with whole wheat pita chips.
- Bleu Caesar Salad: Tomatoes, spring onions, red peppers, and capers tossed with bleu cheese, Italian dressing, homemade croutons, and anchovies.
- Vasco De Gama: Sautéed chicken and gulf shrimp with carrots, mushrooms, green onions, sun-dried tomatoes, and whole black peppercorns in a creamy curry-mustard seed sauce with bow tie pasta and pistachios.
- Spicy Putanesca: Grilled chicken breast and Italian sausage with sautéed black peppercorns, capers, pine nuts, kalamatas, scallions, and roasted garlic in basil-roasted and fresh tomato anchovy sauce.
- Cheesecake Brownies: Rich, chocolaty cream cheese brownies with coconut and pecans.
