Pedal Haus Brewery, which opened in downtown Tempe last weekend, will hold its official grand opening this Friday with its first big event: The Sundown Septemberfest.

From 4-10 p.m., the European-themed brewery’s version of Oktoberfest will include live music and activities like brat-eating and stein-holding contests.

Keeping with the theme, Sierra Nevada will be tapping kegs of its Vienna Lager, Kölsch, and Schwarzbier. It’ll mark the Arizona debut of Vienna Lager in draft and Schwarzbier.

Admission will be $10, but you can get in for free if you’re wearing German attire.

The Sundown Septemberfest will be just one of three events for Sierra Nevada this weekend.

Beer brunch at The Perch

James Conery, assistant brewer and barrel master for the California brewery, will be the special guest at a beer brunch at 11 a.m Saturday at The Perch in downtown Chandler.

For $35, diners will enjoy four courses of food (see menu) and five beers, including two specialty ales: Kitchen Sync (Beer Camp #143) and barrel-aged Maillards Odyssey (2014 Beer Camp Across America collaboration with Bell’s).

Beer school at WOB Gilbert

At 5 p.m. Saturday, Conery will be at World of Beer Gilbert, where they’ll be tapping several versions of Sierra Nevada’s famed Bigfoot barleywine (2013, 2014, and 2015, plus rye-, bourbon-, and Tennessee whiskey-barrel-aged).

Also on tap will be bourbon-barrel-aged Wolfinanny Wheat Wine, Madeira brandy-barrel-aged Ovila Quad, and barrel-aged Ovila Dubbel.
