If you like California wines you won’t want to miss the Great Calfornia Wine Debate dinner on Friday, Oct. 23, at Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler.
The 6 p.m. dinner will feature three courses, each paired with two wines facing off against each other:
- Reception (5:30 p.m.)
- Passed hors d’oeuvres: Heirloom tomato and avocado skewers, portobello and Monterey Jack cheese empanadas, crab-stuffed mushrooms, and Santa Maria beef satay.
- Wine: Sparkling wine
- Salad
- Ocotillo Salad: Baby mixed greens with radicchio, on a cucmber ribbon, tossed with cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil and sherry vinegar, garnished with candied pecans, gorgonzola cheese, and crispy red beets.
- Wines: Wild Horse Chardonnay, Central Coast vs. Franciscan Chadonnay, Napa Valley
- Entree
- Roasted Beef Tenderloin: Served with parsnip puree, rosemary oven-roasted tomatoes, and caramelized shallots.
- Wines: Estancia Cabarenet Sauvignon, Central Coast vs. Tom Gore Cabarent Sauvignon, California
- Dessert
- Chocolate Decadence: Bittersweet chocolate mousse with two layers of sponge cake, finished with a layer of dark chocolate ganache, complemented with fresh mango and raspberry coulis.
- Wines: Simi Pinot Noir, Sonoma County vs. Wild Horse Pinot Noir, Central Coast
