Dilly’s Deli to shut down Chandler location on Dec. 23

The Chandler Dilly’s Deli, one of four locations of the locally owned concept that has won numerous ‘‘Best Sandwich’’ awards from Valley media, is closing later this month.

Its last day of business will be Wednesday, Dec. 23.

The Chandler location has operated on the northeast corner of Alma School and Queen Creek roads since 2005, but owners Shaun Kelley and Jeff Weninger couldn’t reach agreement with the building’s landlord on a new lease.

‘‘We would like to thank all of our customers for their support over the last 10 years,’’ Kelley says. ‘‘We truly appreciate their patronage.’’

Most of the nine Chandler employees have accepted positions at one of the three other Dilly’s locations in Tempe and Scottsdale.

Kelley and Weninger, who launched Dilly’s in Tempe in 1993, also own Floridino’s Pizza & Pasta in Chandler.

Valley restaurateurs interested in the Chandler Dilly’s equipment and other assets are invited to stop by the sandwich shop.
