Bella Gusto Urban Pizzeria, which promises “wood-fired pizzas topped with house made mozzarella and house made salumi,’’ is coming to Chandler in early 2016.
It’s taking over a strip-mall space on the southwest corner of Alma School and Warner that formerly was home to Copper Kettle, which moved to Tempe early last year .
If the tentative menu is any indication, Bella Gusto is looking like it might be something special.
Bella Gusto will offer 13 Neapolitan-style pizzas ($12-$16) that are unlike anything currently available in Chandler, such as:
- The Dr. Seuss with quail egg, house-made mortadella, and shaved grana padano cheese.
- The Triple P with back fat bacon, goat cheese, figs, roasted mushrooms, arugula, and pickled red onion.
- The Sicilian House with Bella Gusto’s signature meatballs, spicy soppressetta, and ricotta cheese.
- The Veggie Panzanella with roasted mushrooms, sun-dried tomato jam, squash blossoms, artichokes, and red onion.
Fresh pasta dishes ($12-$13) will include Gusto bolognese, orecchiette bolognese, and pappardelle with house-made pancetta.
There also will be panini sandwiches ($9.50-$12), salads, and meat and cheese boards.
You’ll want to leave plenty of room for desserts ($6-$10) like sticky toffee pudding cake, cinnamon apple roulade, and two kinds of pie:
- Special K with vanilla mascarpone, roasted pears, salted caramel, and powdered sugar.
- Ula Lula with vanilla mascarpone, creamy peanut butter, serrano-strawberry jam, and powdered sugar.
Bella Gusto will have a liquor license, but no word yet on the bar offerings.
Look for a February opening.
