Scottsdale’s burgeoning craft beer scene just took a bit of a hit with the closing of Union Barrelhouse.

The restaurant and craft beer bar made the announcement on its Facebook page:

‘‘We are sad to say that Union Barrelhouse is now officially closed. We want to thank everyone for a memorable experience. We also want to thank our hard working staff and amazing customers. We appreciate you all. Happy holidays.’’

Union Barrelhouse opened in August 2014 in the former Salty Senorita building near Scottsdale Road and Fourth Street in downtown Scottsdale. It featured 36 craft beers on tap and a full food menu.

Union Barrelhouse’s neighbor, Brat Haus, will take over the building to expand its catering business, Smokehaus, into a full-fledged barbecue restaurant. It is expected to open in mid-January.

Just this year, Scottsdale has seen the opening of four new craft breweries – Scottsdale Beer, Two Brothers, Goldwater, and Fate South – as well as several beer-focused restaurants and bars, such as Craft 64 and The Thirsty Lion.
