From Monti’s La Casa Vieja in Tempe to The Landmark in Mesa to Brunchies in Chandler, the old guard of the East Valley dining scene have been disappearing.

The latest to join this unenviable club? Rudy’s Restaurant, which has been serving residents and visitors in Queen Creek for 41 years. It’s shutting down Saturday.

Rudy Valenzeula, who opened the restaurant 13 years before Queen Creek incorporated as a town, passed away in February.

The closure announcement was made by Rudy’s wife, Toni, on the restaurant’s Facebook page:

‘‘Thank you for your support for all the 41 years we were in business. Rudy passed away February 5th of this year. We were both going to retire this year and do things together and spend time together but it can’t happen because he’s gone. So I have decided to retire. Rudy’s Restaurant will be closing our doors this Saturday for good.’’

If you want to enjoy a final Mexican Pizza or Green Burrro, Rudy’s is still open until 9 p.m. tonight and from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.
