Splurge, an ice cream and candy shop, and Luci’s at the Orchard, a spinoff of Luci’s Healthy Marketplace, open today on 12th Street, just north of Glendale Avenue, in north Phoenix.
They join Pomelo, an already-open restaurant, in a two-acre complex known as The Orchard PHX. The site was a citrus farm since the early 1900s. It still has a water tower surrounded by 80 citrus trees.
Splurge features 12 flavors of gelato with 18 types of toppings, as well as non-dairy sorbet. It also will sell house-baked cookies, ice cream novelties, and candy. Hours are  11 a.m. to 10 pm. daily.
Luci’s at the Orchard, a converted 1949 ranch home, sells specialty food items and other gifts. It features a juice bar, sandwiches, coffee, and baked bread. It also has a full bar. Hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
The site also has a large lawn for picnics, a dog-friendly patio, and a splash zone for kids.
