Grand Canyon, Huss win medals at U.S. Open Beer Championship

The U.S. Open Beer Championship announced its 2016 winners this morning, and a pair of Arizona beers are medal-winners.

Grand Canyon Expeditions Wheat from Grand Canyon Brewing in Williams won the gold medal in the American Pale Wheat category.

Scottsdale Blonde from Huss Brewing in Tempe took the bronze in the Golden or Blonde Ale category.

More than 5,000 beers from around the world were entered in 90-plus categories in the Oxford, Ohio, competition, which includes award-winning home brewers as well as professional breweries.

Firestone Walker in Paso Robles, Calif., was named Grand Champion for winning three gold medals (Union Jack IPA, Double Jack, and Parabajava), one silver and one bronze.

Melvin Brewing in Jackson, Wyo., placed second overall, while Cigar City Brewing in Tampa, Fla., took third.
