Uncle’s Bear’s Brewery in Ahwatukee is the latest Arizona brewery to begin canning its beers.
The past two nights, a mobile canning company has set up in the brewpub after hours and worked through the night to can nearly 1,400 cases of Mandarin Wheat and Ocean Beach West Coast Style IPA.
Uncle Bear’s Jason Derby says about 80% of the six-packs will go to Total Wine stores. The rest will be divvied up among the brewery’s East Valley taprooms.
Six-packs are expected to retail for $9.99.
The canning became possible thanks to head brewer Joe Baldwin and his crew’s recent expansion of the brewhouse.
In fact, the mobile canners will return in three weeks to can still more Mandarin and Ocean Beach, Derby says.
He adds the brewery likely will begin canning its popular new beer, Peanut Butter Cup Porter, in late September.
