One of Phoenix’s lesser-known gems, The Whining Pig, has opened a second location on the southwest corner of Val Vista and Williams Field in Gilbert.
The small, neighborhood-focused beer and wine concept debuted in 2013 in north Phoenix. It quickly became known for its friendly bartenders, cheap prices, and huge variety of board games.
Unlike the original, the Gilbert location offers 31 beers on tap. There also are 125 beers in bottles and cans, and 50 wines.
The streamlined food menu features five grilled cheese sandwiches:
- The Heart: Fig spread, prosciutto & goat cheese ($6)
- The Peace Sign: Pesto, sun-dried tomato & mozzarella ($6)
- The Ying Yang:Â Cream cheese, American & Swiss cheese ($5)
- The Hash Tag: Smoked ham & American cheese ($5)
- The Star: Pepperoni, Sriracha, Italian cheese & cherry peppers ($5)
The only other menu items are a meat and cheese plate ($11), and brownies for dessert ($4).
Hours are 3 p.m.-midnight Monday-Wednesday, 3 p.m.-2 a.m. Thursday-Saturday, and 3-10 p.m. Sunday.
