Barrio Brewing brew pub to open this fall at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport

Barrio Brewing, one of my favorite Tucson breweries, is opening a brew pub in the East Valley. Well, kinda.

The brewery is licensing its brand to a hospitality company that will open a brew pub at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in southeast Mesa.

The airport’s board of directors approved a 10-year lease for an expanded 3,900-square-foot space in the General Aviation Center.

The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and have Barrio beers. It’s expected to open this fall.

Dennis and Tauna Arnold opened Gentle Ben’s Brewing in Tucson in 1991. In 2006, they moved (and expanded) Gentle Ben’s brewing system to open Barrio.

Kind Hospitality, which is licensing the Barrio brand, already operates Paradise Bakery & Cafe locations at Phoenix Sky Harbor and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway, NYPD Pizza at Sky Harbor, and Copper Plate American Grill at Gateway.
