Last month, I told you Clever Koi would be opening a second location at the new Heritage Marketplace in downtown Gilbert around the end of the year.
That estimate is turning out to be overly pessimistic. The Clever Koi now is saying it will open in September.
Clever Koi Gilbert will feature the same menu of modern twists on classic Asian dishes that has made the original Phoenix location so popular, as well as its award-winning craft cocktail program.
The 62-seat dining room and smaller bar area will have what’s described as a ‘‘modern Asian décor.’’ The front facade will be glass, part of which will slide to provide access to a 40-seat patio on Gilbert Road.
Unlike the original, which is closed Sundays, Clever Koi Gilbert will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
