BLT Steak, part of a wave of high-dollar steakhouse chains that invaded the Valley eight years ago, will close Sept. 9.
BLT – which stands for Bistro Laurent Tourondel, named for the founding celebrity chef – opened its Arizona location, replacing the venerable Chaparral Room at the Camelback Inn in Paradise Valley, in October 2008.
Earlier that year, celebrity chef Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak opened at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. Later that year, Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s J&G Steakhouse opened at The Phoenician.
Even Valley-based restaurateur Sam Fox eventually jumped on the trend with his short-lived Modern Steak at Scottsdale Fashion Square.
No word yet on what will replace BLT Steak, but a new restaurant is expected to open by early October.
