You have less than two weeks to wait until Four Peaks Brewing in Tempe releases Pumpkin Porter.
The brewery announced its best-selling seasonal will be available Thursday, Sept. 1, at all Four Peaks brewpubs. It will hit store shelves across the state on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
Pumpkin Porter made its debut in 1999 – back when you could count the number of pumpkin beers nationwide on one hand. Now there are more than 1,000.
Although brewed with pumpkin puree, the beer isn’t meant to taste like pumpkin, but rather pumpkin pie spices.
And, despite what you may hear or read in reviews, the recipe hasn’t changed in 18 years.
‘‘It’s funny,’’ brewmaster Andy Ingram says. ‘‘People will always say, ‘Oh, that one in ’09, that was so good,’ or ‘The one is 2012, that was my favorite.’â€
Pumpkin Porter will be available until Wednesday, Nov. 23.
