The annual ‘‘Dog Days of Sumer’’ (yes, they spell summer with one “m”) promotion returns to Joe’s Farm Grill in Gilbert today. Eight specialty hot dogs and sausages will be available through Sept. 30.
This year’s lineup features six quarter-pound, all-beef hot dogs from Schreiner’s Fine Sausages in Phoenix:
- Eggs Over My Breakfast Dog:Â Deep-fried and bacon-wrapped, with crispy shoestring potatoes, shredded sharp cheddar, sour cream, salsa verde, topped with an over-easy egg (only available 8-11 a.m.).
- Mac Daddy Dog: Cheesy mac, topped with potato chip crumbs and ranch sour cream.
- Pepper Popper Dog: Jabanero cream cheese, hand-breaded fried peppers, and red pepper jelly.
- Sonoran Dog: Bacon-wrapped and deep fried, with beans, cheese, sour cream, and jalapenos.
- Carolina Dog:Â Topped with pulled pork, coleslaw, and Joe’s Real BBQ Sauce.
- Chili Cheddar Dog: Homemade chili and sharp cheddar cheese. Add white onions and relish if you wish.
And two sausages:
- Sweet Granny’s Pistachio Dog: Dried fig and pistachio sausage, with Granny Smith apples, figs, pistachios, sour cream, and cinnamon.
- My Big Fat Greek Sausage:Â Smoked Greek-style sausage, tzatziki, chopped tomato, crumbled feta, and Kalamata olives.
Any specialty dog with a choice of side is $7.99, or you can mix-and-match any two with a side for $10.99. The six hot dogs also are available as a foot-long (pictured) for $10.99.
